Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use freefall racks and tables in handling glass.This unit applies to glass processing workers and some glaziers working in accordance with established procedures.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare for work
  • Identify and follow work health and safety requirements, using all required personal protective equipment
  • Identify work requirements and plan work sequence and method in a logical order to suit the job
  • Select and check tools and equipment for suitability, serviceability and safety prior to use
  • Clear work area of unauthorised personnel prior to and during freefall operations in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Check freefall rack for correct operation, make table level, and clear of any foreign material

  • Inspect glass for faults prior to freefalling and take action in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Conduct freefall in accordance with industry standards and safety requirements
  • Identify and report problems occurring during operation to appropriate persons in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Follow authorised changes in working procedures and/or requirements
  • Move glass to required location for cutting or processing
       
Element: Complete work
  • Label glass in accordance with workplace procedures ensuring there are no projections
  • Clean work area, dispose of rubbish safely and identify items for recycling in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Remove tools, equipment and unused materials and store in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Shut down freefall table and inspect in accordance with manufacturer instructions
  • Accurately complete required workplace documentation

Assessment Tasks
